Key takeaways
Astiva AI shared a case in which it improved eight existing pages without publishing new articles.
After 45 days, the company reported that the brand mention rate on Perplexity rose from 0% to 40%.
This figure was measured across 40 selected questions; it is not the rate at which the brand appeared in all AI answers.
International case study — what changed?
The company in Astiva AI’s case study is an unnamed marketing automation software business. Astiva says it made the following changes to eight of the company’s 34 existing content pages:
Put the answer to the question in the opening sentence
Reworked headings as questions
Added statistics with sources and dates
Added tables with clear comparison criteria
Implemented structured data
The measurement used 40 questions. Each question was run three times on each platform, and a question counted as “mentioned” if the brand appeared at least once. By this measure, the company reported a 40% mention rate on Perplexity after 45 days.
A brand mention is not the same as a citation with a source link. Since this is an agency-reported result for a single anonymous client, it cannot be generalized to other websites.
Our perspective — what does this mean for hospitals?
The following is our interpretation of how the case study might apply to hospital websites.
Before creating new content or overhauling a site, check whether existing information is being communicated clearly enough.
Prioritize high-value pages. Start with pages patients frequently visit, such as those about key services, tests, and visits.
Fill in missing answers. Update sections with headings but little explanation, guidance found only in images, and outdated information.
Track changes using the same questions. Keep the questions and measurement conditions consistent before and after updates, and record brand mentions separately from source citations.
This case suggests that existing pages may have room for improvement. It does not mean that every hospital can do without new content or a redesign.
What hospitals can check now
Do key pages adequately answer patients’ questions?
Is any information outdated or missing?
Is essential guidance available as readable text?
Are mentions and citations tracked separately using consistent criteria?
